Those April days, showery perhaps, but with a taste of those warmer summer evenings floating in.

For many fans of Ladies Days, the Punchestown spells the start of the summer season, new brollies, and sneaky kisses under the brim of a new hat.

This year’s 2013 Coast Best Dressed Lady competition is running from Tuesday 23rd to Friday 26th of April, so get booking those days off work now!

I talked to Shona Dreaper from Punchestown who gave an early bird preview of this year’s competition, with the official prizes and judges to be announced in the coming weeks.

The 411

  • A winner will be selected from 8 – 10 finalists each of the four days.
  • An overall winner is selected on Ladies Day which is always on the Friday of the festival.

The prize last year was pretty phenomenal – a shopping trip to New York, Madrid and London, so all bets are on this year’s prizes won’t fail to appeal to even the most die-hard fashionistas.

Speaking about how Punchestown differs from the other festivals, Shona said “I think the style at Punchestown differs to the other meetings because Punchestown itself is unique. First and foremost we tend to attract ladies from all over the country as we are a national event.

“The prize at Punchestown tends to be a huge attraction so those taking part really tend to focus on our Best Dressed as the highlight of the season.

“The time of the year also means ladies get to showcase a combination of looks and accessories. Whilst they may have the delicate summer key piece they would also need to accessorize with a good coat as we all know the Irish weather is unpredictable at best!” she said.
